HI, I'm Joanna Leavey... learn about me

So a little bit about me, let's start from the beginning. I was born in Toronto, ON and spent my formative years in Oakville, ON learning about myself and what I wanted to do when I grew up. I am a beauty and fashion junkie- have been since I was 13 years old and started memorizing the Pantone colour of the year and I got into modeling. Now what made me stumble into the makeup path would shock even my high school teachers since for much of my high school I didn't spend one day wearing makeup: until I stepped on the runway to model. I used to love watching how creative those makeup artists were with me; I kind of always wanted to be them.

I spent four years of my life going after a degree from the University of Toronto in History and Political Science, I really wanted to be like the lawyers on SUITS. I soon realized that a fancy degree and all kinds of money wasn't what would make me happy. The degree could only provided me with knowledge and not true passion. So I took what I learnt from UofT and decided to start school again at Sheirdan College for makeup for media and creative television. 

At Sheridan I learnt the skills I needed to become successful, while attending Sheridan I worked as a Spa Manager and that taught me even more. I think beauty comes from many things and makeup is there to help you feel confident but I also feel it's the job of any makeup artist to bring out inner beauty of an individual and incorporate it into a creative piece of art.

I have years of experience under my belt as well as being under the other side of the makeup brush; from working on set, to working in spas, to working on small indie projects. I come from a very creative background my father has taught me everything about art and being creative outside of the standard boxed idea and a grandfather who worked in the beauty industry (so I guess you can say I was molded for this). I have very supportive members of my team who encourage me and have given me opportunities I would likely not have if i didn't have them.
 

I am a little bit of a perfectionist and I love boldness but understated at the same time. I don't care what type of make up it is, I will jump in an give it my all. Beauty is for everyone, and being unique is what makes us special. More about me I'm an eternal follower of all things sun related and I'm also a very proud dog mommy of Baby B.
